RENE INFANTE - MUSICA PARA EL ALMA LATINA


	He was born in,Guamuchil, Sinaloa, September 15, 1950. His father is Pedro Infante Cruz, and his mother is Adelina Chavez. He was raised by his mother. When Rene was born his father was at the height of his career. His father did spend time with them, but a lot of his time was spent making his movies and singing. He grew up like other kids, no big deal. Rene was 7 when his father died, it was a difficult time for all of Mexico. He was barely 40, and a lot of the people could not believe he was dead. Rene was 8 when his interest in music began, and he went to the movies at every opportunity he had. It was his love of music and movies that gave him the dream of when he grew up he was going to sing or something similar. In 1968 Rene went to Mexico City and there he studied general medicine for 6 years. He liked medicine and the idea of being a Dr. But the music wouldn't leave him, it called to him louder than the medicine did. Which is why he is here, bringing the music of Mexico to all the people who are here. "There are many people who don't know or know about, Pedro Infante. He was the biggest idol in Mexico, and other parts of the world. Central America, South America, and the United States, he came here often. He was considered number 1 in the artistic world because of his movies and music. To talk about Pedro, remember the good times of the golden past, the movies, the music that is our roots, to tour many parts of the world, the person who represents our culture is Pedro Infante. I wanted to follow in my fathers footsteps. Remembering his music, and taking it to many places. Puerto Rico, Columbia, New York. We've toured various parts of California. We've been in Nevada, Las Vegas. Always bringing the music my father sang, his songs, we are recording the same way he did with the Mariachi. This is what we bring.". Rene was invited to New York in 2002 to participate in the parade in Queens, representing Mexico and the homeland festivities of September 15. And this year he will be performing in San Francisco for the September 15 celebration. Here in California he has recorded 3 CD's and made 3 movies. The movies are, Padre Y Hermano (Father and Brother), Dos Ases Famosos (Two famous Aces), La Banda de Alacran (The Group of the Scorpion). His 8 year old daughter likes to sing and he would like to make another CD with the 2 of them singing together. He would like to try to have her carry on the tradition. She likes soft, romantic music, and she also likes to dance the dances of the Mexican region. She dances in school for the Cinco de Mayo festivities. Rene has graciously agreed to come out the place I work and sing for one of my clients on her birthday. Free. He does benefits for people who come from different places, have no place to go, or live, or need food. He will always go and sing for free for people who need support. He has lived in the United States for 10 years, he comes and goes, but what he misses is the food. The food is very different. Here the food is made American. But the flavor, the seasoning of Mexican food is very agreeable. There is a wide variety of dishes in Mexico. What he likes to do is sing. He did joke with me and say that when he wasn't singing he was at home fighting with his wife, then they both started laughing. He has a nice laugh, it's full of joy. He doesn't just sing his fathers songs, he sings a lot of different peoples songs also. He is not the only musician in the family, he has brothers and sisters who also sing. He doesn't sing with any of them now, but at one time while in Mexico he did sing with his sister Lupita Infante. His brother Pepe will be singing at the same Cinco de Mayo celebration in Cloverdale on May 4th of this year. On April 15th of every year Mexico remembers Pedro, with a huge party with at least 5 thousand people in attendance. Rene goes when he can.


	Yo crecí in Guamúchil, Sinaloa siempre al lado de mi mama, mi papa in ese tiempo estaba en el mero momento de la fama cuando yo nací. Yo crecí como todos los niños, mi papa no iba muy seguido, pero si veía por nosotros. Como de la edad que tiene mi hija 8 anos, a mi me empezó a llamar la atención de la música, y poco a poco cuando había oportunidad de ir al cine para ver las películas, me gustaba mucho, entonces yo traía algo metido aquí, en la cabeza, dije cuando sea grande, yo quiero cantar así como mi papa. Y se ha logrado hasta ahorita, se ha logrado todo los días, y esto yo lo soñaba cuando estaba pequeño, lo hemos llevado acabo así, poco a poco. Tenia 7 anos cuando se murió mi papa. Era difícil para todos. Se sintió mucho por que el iba a cumplid 40 años apenas, entonces mucha gente no podia creer que se fue tan joven. Yo llegue a la capitalde de México en 1968. Y de allí empecé a estudiar, la medicina general, yo estudié cordinario y terapia intensiva. Estuve estudiando medicina por 6 anos, un tiempo que me gusto mucho a trabajar en la medicina. La carrera de medicina es muy larga, para predominar bien, la carrera de medicina seria como 20 años. Luego estuve trabajando para un laboratorio, estaba combinando las dos cosas, estudiando la medicina, y trabajando al mismo tiempo en el laboratorio, pero ya tenia la teoría y la practica y eso es muy bueno. Pero me gusto mas la música, y por eso estoy aquí todavía. Ahora estoy en la unión americana, trabajando, trayendo la música de México para todas la raza que está aquí, para mucha gente que no conoció o que no sabe quien era Pedro Infante. Pedro Infante fur y es el Ídolo mas grande de México, y de muchas partes del mundo, en Centro América, Sur América, La Unión Americana, porque el vino para acá muchos veces y esta considerado como el numero uno dentro del ambiente artístico, tanto en la música como en el cine. Hablar de Pedro Infante de veras es recordar los momentos bonitos de la época del cine de oro, la música de México que son las raíces nuestras, como es la música del mariachi. Pues he recorrido a muchas partes del mundo tanto aquí como en la unión americana , como en Europa, porque la persona que representa a nuestra cultura dentro del folklore Mexicano es Pedro Infante. Pues yo quise seguir los pasos de mi papa. Recordando la música de el y llevando esta música a muchas partes, he Estado en Puerto Rico, Colombia, Nueva York. Varias partes que hemos recorrido todo aquí en California. Siempre trayendo la música que canto mi papa, la canciones de el, y canciones que el no canto. Estamos gravando con la misma línea que el seguía con el mariachi. Eso es lo que nosotros traemos. Estuve en Nueva York porque fui invitado el ano pasado de 2002, al gran Mariscal en el barrio de Queens, representando a México y las fiestas patrias de 15 de Septiembre. Me invitaron de la cámara de la cultura mexicana del Estado de Nuevo York. Fui invitado por el Señor Jorge Hernandez que es el que lleva allá los eventos patrióticos de las fiestas de México. Estuvimos en Nevada, también en las vegas, reno, muchos lugares hemos recorrido. Me acaban de hablar del city hall de San Francisco para trabajar el 15 de Septiembre en las fiestas patrias que van a festejar. Aquí en California hemos gravado 3 CD's , y yo también he participado en 3 películas, se llaman Padre y hermano, 2 ases famosos, y La Banda del Alacrán. A mi hija tambien le gusta cantar, le gusta la música suave, romántica, tranquila. Quiero hacer otro CD donde ella cante con migo. vamos a tratar de que sigua la tradición. Le gusta mucho el baile regional mexicano. Participa mucho en su escuela bailando para las fiestas del Cinco de Mayo, y en Septiembre 15, ella baila la música mexicana. Hablando de beneficios, el dijo esto: Cuando es para beneficio, la escuela, la Iglesia, para las cosa que vienen, para las gentes que vienen de otro país, no tienen donde llegar, donde vivir, para conseguirles comida todo sea, nosotros vamos a cantar gratis para que se reúna dinero para la gente sin hogarí, siempre hemos tratado de ayudar a la gente que nos pide el apoyo. Tenemos 10 años viviendo en Los Estados Unidos, vamos y venimos. Extraño la comida Mexicana. Es muy diferente. Aunque aquí la hacen... el sabor, el sazón que lleva la comida mexicana es muy diferente; mas agradable. Hay mucha variedad de platillos en México en la capital hay gran cantidad de comida. El 15 de Abril es cuando murió tu papa. ¿Que hacen en México? "Hace 2 años que no vemos para allá, estamos aquí trabajando, pero es una fiesta muy grande ese día, en ocasiónes van mas de cinco mil personas, y toda las estaciones de radio están tocando la música de el, y tambien toda la televisión".
